Removed from store, for now

SmartCard has been removed from the App Store due to me not having any time at the moment to update it to more recent versions of iOS. I hope to return to the app in the future though!

Version 3 available

SmartCard Version 3 is now available!

Blog Update

Hello everyone. It has been quiet around here for a while and updates have been rare. The reason for this is that I'm currently very busy with other stuff, mainly with university. This means that the next update will take some time until it will be released.

In the mean time, you can enjoy this teaser of the next version :) It will improve the learning screen (a lot!) and add support for the new iPad Retina screen. Here are some pictures, nothing final, just some work in process. If you have any suggestions feel free to comment or write to smartcard@me.com.

New option to learn without keyboard on iPad - the screen is fully used.

The font size adapts to the length of the content of the card.

Online Services: Quizlet Integration (Update: Delayed)

Update: Apple rejected the update. I think I worked around the issue they had and I am going to re-upload it soon. Sorry for the delay. I added some more stuff though, check out the Versions page for more information.

SmartVoc (the name of SmartCard before version 2), was originally designed to allow the user to learn their existing vocabulary files. It allowed you to add your own data or import your Teachmaster files. Eventually, I added support for CSV files to allow the import of files from the Internet, as CSV is quite a common format for sharing flashcards. In version 2.0, I expanded this by allowing you to open CSV files from other apps. Now you could open a file directly from Safari.

Version 2.1 expands this further by adding support for Online Services: Download flashcards from the Internet directly from within the app. Currently, only Quizlet is supported, but I'm planning to add more services in the future.

Tap the plus button in the groups list and select Download. Select Quizlet and enter a search term, for example Spanish Basics. Tap any of the results to see a preview of the cards in this group and tap Download, to save the group to the device. Simple as that! I am planning to submit the update to Apple in a couple of days, so it should be available soon.

Version 2.0 Available

Version 2 of SmartCard is now available from the App Store.

Because of the name change, I moved the website from smartvoc.blogspot.com to here.
